Volume 1

On November 26 & 27 2010 the first European Coin Magic Symposium brings 16 magicians from all over the world to Milan for 2 days of non-stop coin magic.  Expect some knuckle busters as most of the contributors in this issue are the best names in coin magic. All routines are complete with performance and explanation.

Performances and Explanations include:

  • AKIRA FUJII: “Grown Up Coin” .Beautiful one coin routine with many surprises. Technique is very impressive and not very difficult to do. Intermediate level. Professional and beautiful routine for standup workers.
  • GIACOMO BERTINI: “Cylinder & Coins”. This is his version of a classic routine, without the use of a wand. Many useful technique taught here but it will be a challenge to accomplish. A very well constructed routine that shows the hand empty from time to time. Plenty of subtle convincers here. Advanced level. Beautiful routine For standup workers.
  • JEAN EMMANUEL FRANZIS: “Coins No Purse No Glass”. This is a tough one, you will need to be able to palm six coins in one hand. The routine starts off with the production of three silver coins and then changed to chinese coins and then ending with the chinese coins changing back to silver coins. Very nice routine, advanced level.Beautiful routine For standup workers.
  • SHIGEO FUTAGAWA: “Inflaction and Deflaction”. A fun, short and original routine whereby one of the two half dollars changes to a quarter and the other half dollar changes to a silver dollar. Student of Shigeo Takagi, Shigeo is now considered the dean of japanese coinmagic. Beautiful routine to work at the table. Beginner/Intermediate level.
  • MIGUEL ANGEL GEA: “Esencia del Vaso”. One of the master of spanish coinmagic presents one of the best routines of the DVD. Pure sleight of hand, pure magic and total enjoyment. A coins thru glass routine with seldom seen technique. A perfect lead intro a matrix or a four coin routine. Routine to work at the table. Intermediate level.

    You can see this amazing routine in his book, “Giacomo Bertini’s System for amazement” written by Stephen Minch. A very original matrix in which 4 different coins are used. Giacomo does not use any gimmick or extra coins, and created two consecutive final climaxes. The 4 coins after returning to the initial position, disappear completely and then reappear printed under the cards.  For standup workers. Advanced level.
  • DARYL: “The Mysterious Cross of India”
    This is one of the most famous routines of the great American magician Daryl (Fism prize).

  • GIacomo Bertini: “Cylinder & Chips”
    This is his easy version of the famous coin routine.  You can see this routine in his book, “Giacomo Bertini’s System for amazement” written by Stephen Minch. Giacomo uses poker chips instead of coins and his own gimmick, which you can buy from him. He created this routine for professional use, such as when working at event dinners, and in any difficult situation, anywhere. The effect is amazing, like the classical version, but in this case the routine is really easy to perform, and the hands are really empty, in front of the spectators. Very beautiful routine for standup workers. Beginner level.
  • DARYL: “The Manly Matrix”
    This is a wonderful version of the classic matrix effect – four coins and four cards. Each coin starts under one card in 4 different places. Eventually all coins assemble magically one by one under one card. The description includes a beautiful display move which allows you to show a card in one hand while you hide a coin in the same.  Very beautiful routine for standup workers. Intermediate level.
  • AKIRA FUJII: “Before of Jet Coin”
    The famous Japanese television magician shows us an update to his historic routine. Akira was the first magician who used the “muscle-pass” technique, not as a simple flourish, but as a technique in the context of routine. You can appreciate the inventiveness and progress in coin magic made as early as the late 90’s by this Japanese magician. Routine to work at the table at any situation also impromptu. Advanced level.
  • MIGUEL ANGEL GEA: “Three In One”
    The master of the Spanish coin magic presents a nice routine in which three coins disappear from a glass and reappear in different positions including inside a deck of cards on top of a chosen card and inside a previously shown empty purse.
